Becky L. Yu received her first law degree from China University of Political Science & Law in Beijing, 1985 and her advanced LL.M graduate law degree from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, 2000. She has a broad range of diversified legal background including Assistant DA in successful felony prosecution of 3 death penalty cases, general counsel for a major international company responsible for the company's all inhouse legal matters including international trade, joint ventures, trademark, and other internal and external legal affairs for over 7 years. She started her legal focus on the special field of the ever changing US immigration laws in 1991.
Becky has since worked in the dynamic field of US immigration and nationality laws with various prestigious organizations. She served at the Law Department of "Texas Instruments, Inc." as an in-house "Immigration Administrator" for over 5 years. Her corporate immigration law practice also included the responsibility as an in-house immigration attorney from 2001 to 2003 with"i-2 Technologies, Inc.", an Irving, Texas based public software company, and she was the only staff immigration lawyer for the company with a staff that included over 1,500 foreign national employees.
In addition to her immigration law experience with major corporations, Becky also has valuable work experience with national and regional law firms. She practiced immigration law under the then President of American Immigration Lawyers' Association (AILA) when she worked at the Immigration Practice Group at the former "Jenkens & Gilchrist" from 2003 to 2004, before she took a more challenging position as "Practice Group Leader" to start up a new immigration department with another regional law firm headquartered in Dallas, Texas. She has been "Of Counsel" to Dallas based "White & Wiggins" for the past two years and advices the partners on and leads the handling of all US immigration related matters and cases for this largest certified minority owned law firm in the region.
Becky's particular legal expertise over the past 20 plus years has always been on all types of employment based immigration cases, especially H-1B, L-1A&B, and PERM cases for high tech and research engineers, public independent school district and university teachers, nurses and medical staff, religious workers, priority workers (alien of extraordinary abilities, advanced researchers & multinational business executives) and "national interest waiver" applications. She is very comfortable with all types of challenging cases with immigration problems or complications that involve motions after denials and/or appellate work at AAO, BIA or BALCA levels.
Becky L. Yu is licensed in New York and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association (AILA), member of AILA Texas Chapter and Dallas Asian American Lawyers’ Association, and she is also a current Advisor on the Advisory Panel of the American Bar Association (ABA). She was listed in many prestigious publications such as “Who’s Who in American Law” and the “Who’s Who of American Woman Lawyers.” Becky Yu is the founder and managing partner of Yu, South & Associates since October 2006 and she has been serving on the "Immigrant Resource Council of North Texas" since 2000.
Becky, an immigrant herself originally from China, was nominated for the "Hall of Fame" by the Executive Committee of DFW International, a nonprofit organization and an alliance of over 1,600 ethnic and cultural organizations and groups in North Texas for the Year 2007 for her professional accomplishment and extraordinary contributions in helping and serving the immigrant communities, as a model for and inspiration to all new immigrants.
