Last night, US Representative Luis Gutierrez (Democratic from Illinois) introduced a bill to the legislature and this long awaited bill for a comprehensive immigration reform or the latest edition of the previously lost “Dream Act” is now in the official process upon submission to the Congress!
The bill as submitted under the official name of "Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America’s Security and Prosperity (CIR ASAP) Act of 2009" co-sponsored by 87 Democrats is the latest development marking the beginning of many rounds of anticipated strong debates by not only both sides of the aisle in the legislature but for sure will start lots of heated discussions from both news media and the general public, whether for or against such a comprehensive immigration reform.
“This is a big day for us,” said Jorge-Mario Cabrera of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles. “Our community has been awaiting this bill for a long time” as quoted from Los Angeles Times earlier today. Yu, South & Associates had previously predicted that such a bill would be due by the end of the year in our previous posting on Aug. 7, 2009 titled: “Comprehensive Immigration Reform One Step Closer” and now it is finally here!
This 644-page long comprehensive immigration reform bill contained a total of 6 titles covering most of all hot topics in the immigratioin communities that would have immediate impact on both US employers and families and this comprehensive immigration reform proposed in the bill includes changes to existing H-1B, L-1, H-2B and EB-5 (entrepreneur or foreign investor visa) programs and the creation of the most anticipated legalization program under a new name of "Earned Legalization Program for the Undocumented" that would bring overwhelming joys to the approximate 12 millions of undocumented immigrants who are already here in the US.
Here is complete listing of all 6 titles of this bill introduced last night as "Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity (CIR ASAP) Act of 2009":
- Border security, Detention, and Enforcement
